After just one game on the active roster over the weekend, the Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Addison Barger back on the injured list Monday, this time with right elbow inflammation.
The Blue Jays returned outfielder Yohendrick Pinango to the active roster from Triple-A Buffalo, while left-hander Eric Lauer was designated for assignment and right-hander Yariel Rodriguez had his contract selected from Triple-A.
Barger returned from sprains to both ankles and played Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels, making an on-target throw from deep right field in the second inning to cut down Jorge Soler at home plate.
In nine games this season, Barger is just 1-for-22 at the plate after hitting 21 homers with 74 RBIs in 135 games last season. He batted .367 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 17 games during the 2025 postseason.
Since making his major league debut in 2024, Barger is a career .223 hitter with 28 home runs and 104 RBIs in 213 games for the Blue Jays.
Pinango, 24, made his major league debut April 26 and was batting .423 with a double and four RBIs in 10 games for Toronto.
Lauer, 30, was 1-5 with a 6.69 ERA in eight appearances (six starts) for the Blue Jays this season. In eight major league seasons for three teams, including four seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Lauer is 46-44 with a 4.26 ERA in 156 appearances (133 starts).
Rodriguez, 29, is set to make his 2026 major league debut. He is 4-10 with a 3.83 ERA in 87 appearances (22 starts) for the Blue Jays over the past two seasons.
