The Los Angeles Chargers released guard Mekhi Becton and tight end Will Dissly in cost-cutting moves Wednesday.
The Chargers cleared $9.7 million in salary cap room by cutting Becton and another $4 million by dumping Dissly.
Los Angeles now has about $98 million in cap space with the new league year about to start next week.
Becton, 26, signed a two-year, $20 million contract last March and appeared in 15 games (14 starts) in 2025.
He has started 59 of his 61 career games with the Jets (2020-21, 2023), Eagles (2024) and Chargers since being selected by New York with the 11th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. He won a Super Bowl during his lone season with Philadelphia.
In addition to replacing Becton, the Chargers are also shopping for a new center after Bradley Bozeman announced his retirement last month.
Dissly, 29, signed a three-year, $14 million deal in March 2024. Injuries limited him to just 11 catches for 97 yards and no touchdowns in nine games (two starts) last season.
Dissly has 188 receptions for 1,999 yards and 15 touchdowns in 96 career games (75 starts) with the Seattle Seahawks (2018-23) and Chargers.
The Chargers also waived tackle Savion Washington on Wednesday. Washington, 23, was an undrafted free agent in 2025 who spent the entire campaign on reserve/physically unable to perform.
