Willy Adames launched McCade Brown's first pitch for his 30th home run of the season, Rafael Devers added his 35th and the San Francisco Giants, getting a combined shutout from Logan Webb and three relievers, completed a season-ending sweep of the visiting Colorado Rockies with a 4-0 victory Sunday afternoon.
A fourth straight win allowed the Giants (81-81) to finish the season at .500, giving them one more win than in manager Bob Melvin's first year in 2024 and two more than a season earlier, when Gabe Kapler was fired.
Colorado (43-119) wrapped up the season with six straight defeats. Their 119 losses tied for the third-most in Major League Baseball since 1900.
Batting leadoff in order to maximize plate appearances in his quest for 30 homers, Adames wasted no time in becoming the first Giant since Barry Bonds in 2004 to reach the milestone. It also gave him back-to-back seasons with 30 or more, having bombed 32 for the Milwaukee Brewers last year.
Devers' homer leading off the fourth gave him 35 or more for the second time in his career. He hit 20 in 90 games as a Giant after he'd smacked 15 in 73 games before being dealt by the Boston Red Sox in June.
Brown (0-5) was pulled two batters later, charged with two runs on four hits in three-plus innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Meanwhile, Webb (15-11), the Giants' ace, matched his career high in wins by limiting the Rockies to three hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and did not issue a walk.
Jose Butto, Tristan Beck and Spencer Bivens took the club's seventh shutout of the season the rest of the way. Bivens threw no-hit ball over the final two innings, striking out three, to notch his third save.
The Giants made Bivens' job easier by tacking on two insurance runs -- both unearned -- in the eighth on a two-out single by Jung Hoo Lee.
The Rockies had a runner reach second base just four times in the game, twice on doubles by Brenton Doyle and Hunter Goodman, but went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
Lee finished with three hits and Devers scored twice for the Giants, who took 11 of 13 from the Rockies this season.
Doyle added a single to his double for Colorado, which was out-hit 7-5.
