The rapper has reportedly been referred to as Ye Ye in legal documents filed in 2025
American rapper and 24-time Grammy Award winner Kanye West has reportedly changed his name to 'Ye Ye', marking the such move of his career.
The new moniker has been used in recent business documents filed by West's chief financial officer, Hussain Lalani, US Weekly and Page Six claimed Monday, citing papers they had obtained.
West's previous paperwork listed his name as 'Ye West'. However, his businesses, including Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label LLC, and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc., now list 'Ye Ye' as the manager or member of the companies, according to reports.
West has not publicly confirmed the change, but recently indicated on X that he would no longer use his @kanyewest handle. As of now, a new X account has not been launched, though his Instagram remains under the username 'Ye'.
The artist's previous name change took place in 2018, when he began calling himself 'Ye' - a title also used for his eighth studio album released that year. He later explained the meaning behind the change, telling Billboard, "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means 'you'. So I'm you, I'm us, it's us."
"It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye - just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything," he said.
In a 2018 social media post, he also declared that "the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE." Three years later, a Los Angeles County judge granted his petition to legally change his name to Ye.
Earlier this year, the artist was embroiled in a major scandal after proclaiming himself a "Nazi" and expressing sympathies for Adolf Hitler. He was also caught wearing a T-shirt with a swastika which he also sold on his online merchandise store for $20.
In April, however, Ye walked backed on his claims, writing on social media that he had "come to the realization that I'm not a Nazi," noting that he will nevertheless continue saying "whatever the f*ck I feel like whenever the f*ck [I] feel like it." He later deleted the message.
Throughout his career, the rapper has repeatedly described his struggles with mental health and revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016. In February, however, he claimed that he was misdiagnosed and had stopped taking medication after finding out that he actually had "a case of autism."
