BrownWinick, the largest law firm in Iowa, is marking its 75th anniversary with the launch of a year-long campaign. The firm is celebrating its legacy of guiding business owners through pivotal moments and its continued commitment to the future of Iowa's business community.
The theme of this anniversary is: Pivotal Moments. Practical Partners. 75 Years Strong.
Founded in 1951, BrownWinick has grown alongside the businesses it serves, evolving from a small local practice into a trusted legal and strategic partner for organizations across the region. Over the past seven and a half decades, the firm has played a role in some of the most significant decisions facing its clients, including ownership transitions, high-stakes negotiations, and long-term growth and succession planning.
'At the heart of our work are the pivotal moments that define a business,' said Sean Moore, Managing Partner at BrownWinick. 'For 75 years, we've been in the room for those decisions, helping leaders move forward strategically. This milestone is an opportunity to reflect on that responsibility and look ahead to how we can continue to serve businesses in Iowa and beyond.'
A Legacy Built on Trust and Long-Term Partnership
Beyond its legal expertise, BrownWinick's growth has been integrally shaped by the relationships it has built over time. Over half of current attorneys have spent nearly their entire careers at BrownWinick, contributing to a depth of institutional knowledge. This allows BrownWinick to serve as a consistent, long-term partner, fostering client relationships that have lasted for 25+ and 50+ years.
That continuity has positioned the firm as a 'law firm for life'-a partner that supports businesses through formation, expansion, transition, and beyond.
'Our clients are looking for more than answers in the moment,' said Chris Sackett. 'They're looking for a partner who understands where they've been and where they're going, and how to navigate that path with wisdom. That's where our experience and our people make the difference.'
Rooted in Iowa, Focused on the Future
As the largest law firm in Iowa, BrownWinick has remained deeply connected to the communities it serves. The firm's work extends beyond legal counsel, with ongoing involvement in local organizations, economic development efforts, and initiatives that strengthen the broader business environment across the state.
Collectively, attorneys at BrownWinick serve on 400+ boards, committees, and community organizations. Sixteen attorneys have served in public service-appointed leadership roles, and the firm invests more than $250,000 annually in non-profits and organizations that are strengthening communities.
The 75-year anniversary celebration will highlight these connections through stories, initiatives, and community-focused efforts throughout the year. BrownWinick will also reflect on its history while looking ahead, focusing on how it can continue to support the next generation of business leaders and contribute to the long-term success of Iowa's economy.
'We're so excited to highlight how the past 75 years of pivotal moments position us for future growth,' said Cindy Lande. 'The businesses we serve are constantly evolving, and so are we. Our role is to continue showing up with the experience, perspective, and practical guidance they need to move forward.'
