Add Southern California women's basketball standout JuJu Watkins to a lengthy list of stars behind the Boston Legacy FC investor group.
Watkins is the first college athlete with a public investment in a women's pro sports team. The Legacy open their first-ever season on March 14 and will play at Gillette Stadium during construction renovation to White Stadium.
'Juju's investment marks a groundbreaking moment for women's sports and the power of NIL,' said Jennifer Epstein, owner of Boston Legacy. 'She's showing that today's student-athletes aren't just building their own brands -- they're shaping the future of the game.'
Watkins joins former USC quarterback Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears, Celtics general manager Brad Stevens, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, actress Elizabeth Banks and Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston as Legacy investors.
Watkins is sitting out the 2025-26 season to recover from a torn ACL in March during a second-round NCAA Tournament game.
She was named Naismith College Player of the Year and won the John R. Wooden Award, averaging 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 2024-25 as a sophomore.
'Boston Legacy FC is creating a space for women to achieve, lead, and inspire others at the highest level,' Watkins said. 'I'm proud to be part of the movement pushing women's sports forward.'
